“Dr Simonne was so understanding a patient from our very first contact. The situation with our dog deteriorated very quickly and she was incredibly accommodating and sympathetic. When the time came to put our boy to sleep, it was peaceful and full of dignity. She gave us the time we needed and answered all of our questions. Our dog was completely calm in her presence and was able to fall asleep at home, in his bed and in our arms. Dr Simonne Stewart from The Gentle farewell came to our aid when our beloved Tabitha unexpectedly began to go down hill in health. Dr Simonne was able to talk us through the roller coaster ride of palliative care. Tabitha had been my children’s anxiety assistance dog and as such was a very difficult balancing act. We got to spend quality time with Tabitha and got the chance to take her to her favourite places. We were gifted the time to know when to make the call for Tabitha so she didn’t suffer and also ensure our family had chance to say their goodbyes. Dr Simonne came to our house and with great care and compassion sedated Tabitha initially so she wouldn’t feel anything, immediately helping her relax, explaining what was happening to our kids. Tabitha passed peacefully at home in her favourite place with her family around her. Dr Simonne also organised Sunshine Coast Pet cremations to care for Tabitha after her passing. We couldn’t have wished for anything more and compared to the alternative of a visit to the vet and the stress and fear, this was by far the kindest and most peaceful end to a horrible illness. The words “Thank you” don’t seem quite enough.”

“I absolutely cannot thank or appreciate Dr Simonne enough. From our first phone call, to the SMS’s, to our farewelling my Jessi I just felt so much care and compassion to myself and to Jessi.
I always knew Jessi would be the one to break my heart, one day she’d have to be farewelled and I knew she deserved the kindest, most gentle and respectful farewell. As odd as it sounds, this was even better than I could’ve imagined.
Dr Simonne took so much time and care, explained everything to my son and I, included our other dog and explained the process that she’d likely go through as well.
On top of that she liased with the crematorium, there was nothing I had to do except give my Jessi her best possible final days and much love and kindness. For me, being able to ‘plan’ it allowed me to start the grieving process earlier which meant I was calmer on the day and that was less stressful for us all. As devastated as I was at the end of the day I also felt so much gratitude and so blessed to be able to give Jessi the farewell that she deserved after 13 years of her being by my side.

“Recently, when the “ELDER STATESMAN” of our family a 17 year old Kelpie, decided to have his final rest.
