Personal Service

1. One Person

During such a delicate time, it is crucial that you deal with just one person rather than re-explaining your situation to multiple staff members such as receptionists, nurses, assistants, or call centers, and then having a different individual visit your home.Dr. Simonne will never bring any nurses, staff, students, or spectators. Only Dr. Simonne will attend your home, keeping the process private and intimate for you and your pet.

2. Tailored plan

Loss and grief are highly personal for the entire family. At the first phone call, Dr. Simonne will personally answer all your questions, get to know your beloved pet and family, and help create a tailored plan that addresses both your pet’s condition and your family’s preferences. She will visit your home on the Sunshine Coast for the euthanasia consultation and assist with your choice of aftercare. At no time will you be rushed.

3. No corporate or Franchise

The Gentle Farewell is not affiliated with any corporates or franchises, ensuring you won’t be redirected to call centers or required to book online with unfamiliar veterinarians.

No place like home

1. Your pet is most comfortable

Your home is where your pet feels most relaxed and comfortable, especially if their vision is affected, if they are non-mobile, or in pain. At home, you avoid the difficult drive with your fur baby trying to tolerate pain or feeling sick as well as trying to balance with painful arthritic legs.

2. You have privacy to grieve

Home is the place where you can grieve freely and you don’t have to face a reception desk, multiple nursing staff or members of the public in the waiting room. You can then avoid the potentially dangerous, teary drive home without your fur baby.

3. You choose who is present

You can have privacy with your fur baby or you may choose to invite family, friends, and fluffy family members that would not all fit in a normal consult room. You can also include remote loved ones over FaceTime.

4. Your other pets can be present

I absolutely believe and encourage your other pets to be present so they know what happened to their sibling / friend. Your other furry family members will know their friend has been unwell and vulnerable and it can be distressing for their friend to suddenly disappear. Being present allows them to know and help them to grieve too.

5. You choose the setting.

You have the flexibility to choose where on your property your beloved pet makes their final journey—whether it’s in their favorite place or somewhere special to you both.
I am flexible and will accommodate your ideas, whether it’s in the paddock watching the sunset, by candlelight, with favorite music, on the couch, or simply in the morning sun on the verandah. Some families have sung lullabies, or played guitar. It’s your choice how to create a peaceful, personal environment for this journey.

One point of contact, One vet, with you every step of the way

Reach out to me in which ever way is most comfortable to you. I can be contacted by phone 0493 462 893. If it is hard to speak I am also contactable by SMS/text  or via the online form.

During the first phone call, I can answer all your questions and learn about your beloved pet and your family, so together we can make a personalized plan that best suits your pet’s condition and your family’s wishes. I will then attend your Sunshine Coast home for the at home pet euthanasia consultation and assist with your choice of aftercare.

We could not recommend Dr Simonne highly enough. She made our really difficult goodbye for our cattle pup Dobbie so much easier and more bearable. Everything was explained so clearly and compassionately, and she also arranged a company to pick him up afterwards. Thank you so much Dr Simonne. 🌼 ❤️

The utmost gentle, calm and thorough professionalism was given by Dr Simonne on two of my saddest of days. My beautiful old girl Jenna (2 years ago) and recently, little Tinker left me in the most serene and peaceful way I could have hoped for in such a circumstance.

It can be the hardest decision to know when to say goodbye to your beloved friend. Dr. Simonne was unfailingly supportive, kind and reassuring throughout this process. We were lucky to have a few days with Suki to spoil her with love and all her favourite things, as we came to terms with the inevitable. When the day came, Dr. Simonne guided our family and assisted this very loved old girl to a beautiful, peaceful passing. She also helped our children with clear explanations and memorial paw prints. The compassion, experience and understanding she provided made this most difficult of days better, and most importantly, Suki's final moments as calm and full of love as possible. We are eternally grateful. x

We recently said goodbye to our beautiful dog, Mambo, with the help of Dr Simonne Stewart from The Gentle Farewell. From the moment she arrived, she had such a calm, gentle presence. She made what was one of the hardest days of our lives feel a little easier. Nothing felt rushed or intrusive. She was wonderful with our children and took the time to include our other dog too, which meant a lot to us. Mambo was relaxed in her presence, with no anxiety at all. Saying goodbye was not easy, but Dr Simonne helped make the experience as peaceful and gentle as it could be. We are so grateful for her kindness and care. Thank you. Highly recommend.

Dr Simonne is most kind, compassionate and professional. She provided gentle support and a peaceful at-home euthanasia of our beloved cat on a sunny Sunday afternoon in our backyard. It was a beautiful and heartfelt experience we are very grateful for.
