We are fortunate to have a choice of very professional, private local pet cremation companies on the Sunshine Coast offering various options for pet cremation.

You are free to choose which pet cremation company you prefer, or I can help you organise a pet cremation service to collect your pet at the end of our Gentle Farewell visit.

These local Sunshine Coast pet cremation companies listed below care for your pet with the utmost respect, perform an individual, private cremation, and return your pet’s ashes to you in your choice of urn, timber box, or bamboo scatter pouch. They can also provide a variety of keepsakes.

Please note that these Sunshine Coast pet cremation services are separate individual businesses, and you will need to directly pay them for the cost of their service and the package you select. For pricing, please see their individual websites.

As a Veterinary Surgeon, I have had firsthand experience dealing with multiple private, franchise, and corporate pet cremation companies over the last 27 years. I do not charge for coordinating the individual pet cremation, nor do I receive any incentives for recommending any service (despite financial incentives being offered by corporate pet cremation companies to all vets).

My recommendations is purely based on my professional and personal opinion knowing their respective practices. I want your pet to be treated with the utmost respect and dignity and you to be 100% confident it your pets ashes that come home to you.

Private Burial at Home

Burying a beloved pet at home is a beautiful option if you own your property. You may choose a site that has special meaning and can memorialize and protect the site by planting a special tree or plant.

The Gentle Farewell can provide a biodegradable covering for your pet with prior arrangement at no charge. Alternatively, a sheet works very well as a stretcher and allows easy and gentle transport while composting well. A pillowcase works very well for cats.

Sunshine Coast Council allows the burial of pets that have passed on private property. Their requirements are as follows:

Must be buried so the pet is under a minimum of 30cm of compacted soil.
Must not cause a nuisance to others (i.e., odour, attract vermin, flies).
Must be at least 100m from any waterways.
Must not be buried in non-biodegradable coverings/plastic bags.

Noosa Council also allows the burial of your pet on your private property.

Individual Cremation with no ashes returned

Your pet will be individually cremated and your pet ashes will be spread on the private property in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. No ashes will be returned.

If you choose this service I will transport your pet to the local cremation provider on your behalf. An additional fee will be charged to cover transport and cremation cost.

Dr. Simonne was unfailingly supportive, kind and reassuring throughout this process.  We were lucky to have a few days with Suki to spoil her with love and all her favourite things, as we came to terms with the inevitable.  When the day came, Dr. Simonne guided our family and assisted this very loved old girl to a beautiful, peaceful passing.  She also helped our children with clear explanations and memorial paw prints.   The compassion, experience and understanding she provided made this most difficult of days better, and most importantly, Suki's final moments as calm and full of love as possible. From the moment she arrived, she had such a calm, gentle presence. She made what was one of the hardest days of our lives feel a little easier. Nothing felt rushed or intrusive. She was kind enough to endure long and hard conversations with me in the months leading up to our final decision. However, the day that we knew we were ready to say goodbye, she dropped everything to be here within hrs. I could not have asked for more at a time like that. Willow was by our sides since our children were 3 and 4 yrs old. For 16.5years Willow was their sister, their joy and their confidant in hard times. Therefore, saying goodbye to her was the hardest thing we have done as a family. It has taken 3 months of walking through the grief to be strong enough to write this.
